Hey, I’m Katie SanFilippo!

With over 18 years of experience in nonprofits, I’ve gained a deep understanding of what it takes to build and sustain impactful organizations and how to guide nonprofits through critical moments of transition and uncertainty. I’ve stepped in to lead an organization on the brink of closure. With high staff turnover, limited funding, and a week to make payroll, I rallied the team to make massive change.

I understand the leader juggling an overwhelming workload while feeling the weight of their mission. As I led my team in stabilizing the organization - the pandemic hit - leading to continued pivots through years full of uncertainty. After years of constant crisis management, I faced my own overwhelm and exhaustion.

I empathize with managers driven by the mission but facing limited opportunities for internal career development. My leadership development approach is based on my experience in creating my own learning experientially when systems weren’t in place internally - and the desire to give others the support I knew I needed.

Experiential career development, institutional growth, and solution-focused change management are the cornerstones to my leadership approach. This approach ensured that, as an Executive Director, I nurtured an internal leadership pipeline so as I was ready to transition out, they were equipped to continue our mission beyond me.

My journey has reinforced a fundamental truth: we are more than our missions. Together we can amplify the life-changing impact of nonprofits by focusing on the people who make it happen. Today, I’m committed to supporting nonprofit leaders in ways I wish I had been supported, helping build resilient, adaptable organizations while also prioritizing our own well-being.
